Sławomir Boncel BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit heads the NanoCarbon Group in the Division of Organic Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Chemistry and is a deputy director of the Center for Organic and Nanohybrid Electronics (CONE) at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. His research experience included postdoctoral internships of more than a year at the University of Cambridge in the UK (Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, Department of Physics) and the A*STAR Bioinformatics Institute in Singapore. His research interests include the synthesis and application-oriented, organic chemistry-inspired modifications of graphene, nanotubes (CNTs), and carbon quantum dots (CQDs). He is an author and co-author of over 110 articles in JCR-listed journals, 4 patents (3 PL, 1 WO) and 2 commercialized know-how; he has been a manager in 12 national and European research projects (Horizon 2020, NCN [National Science Centre], NCBR [The National Centre for Research and Development], FNP [The Foundation for Polish Science ]). Representative examples of NanoCarbon Group ‘s achievements under his leadership include: a Holter-specific ECG shirt with printed textronics containing ultra-long carbon nanotubes, electroactive cloaking mesh components for stealth technology, super-efficient ‘CNT-enzyme’ nanobiocatalysts, magnetic drug delivery systems, superlubricants for polymer-steel friction junctions, heat-transfer nanofluids and phase-change nanomaterials for heat storage. He works with recognized industrial partners: MacLaren F1 Team, Azoty S.A., Miranda Sp. z o.o.
