He was born on December 17, 1958 in Śrem. He completed his master’s degree at the Higher School of Pedagogy in Zielona Góra. He improved his qualifications and expanded interests during postgraduate studies: Political Science and Computer Science at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Organization and Management of Educational Institutions at the Poznań University of Technology, Local Government Management at the University of Warsaw, Project Management at the Poznań School of Banking. In 2008, he completed his doctoral studies at the Poznań University of Economics.
He began his professional career in 1981 as a teacher in Primary School No. 4 in Śrem, and from 1983 in Primary School No. 5, rising to the position of a director. Since 1995, he has been associated with the City Hall of Śrem. He first took over as mayor of Śrem in 2006 and has held the position ever since.
He is a member of the Management Board of Directors of the Association of Polish Cities, Vice-Chairman of the Management Board of the Association of Municipalities and Counties of Wielkopolska, and Chairman of the Board of the Economic Union of the Śrem Region. With great dedication, he works to develop the municipality of Śrem. The priority in the activity is to provide preschool care for all children, develop transportation, strive to restart the railroad in Śrem, introduce new pro-environmental technologies. Through all the years he has been in charge of the municipality, he has achieved many of the goals set, such as road repairs, introduction of free public transportation, expansion of educational, sports and recreational infrastructure, computerization of the office and the municipality, among others. Thanks to his efforts, the municipality of Śrem is in the Poznań Metropolis Association, which enables obtaining additional external funding.
Adam Lewandowski is a supporter of self-government. He is an initiator of many solutions that improve the quality of daily life of the residents of the municipality of Śrem. His election as the mayor several times confirms the good course of action carried out with passion and commitment.
